Mia Robertson, Foundation Patron

Mia Elaine Robertson is the third and youngest child of Jase and Missy Robertson. Born on September 12, 2003, Mia was both beautiful and special. Missy and Jase had learned earlier that Mia would be born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, which could potentially make it difficult for her to eat, form words and more. This cleft lip formed two gaps on either side of her upper lip, and it was made apparent that surgery would be necessary.

Mia underwent her first surgery when she was just 3 months old, which focused mostly on the correction of her cleft lip. This was a touch time for both Jase and Missy emotionally, as it was difficult to see their beautiful little daughter go through so much.

Through all of this, Mia quickly became herself, developing a unique and distinct personality that would help her endure so much in the future. From a young age, it became apparent that Mia held a positive and loving outlook on life and all those involved with it. Later, this would prove useful as she would undergo many painful surgeries and became an example of positive thinking and humility across the globe.

Over the years, Mia underwent several surgeries to assure that her cleft lip and palate were being treated. Though it was inconvenient and painful, Mia maintained a positive attitude and established relationships with her doctors. Despite her many trials, she was required to wear a headgear for 12-14 hours a day. Again, Mia was positive and showed incredible support for anything that was required of her.

Mia’s most recent surgery took place in January of 2014. Thousands of fans proclaimed her as a beautiful example to young women everywhere. Today, Mia loves helping others, lending a smile to anyone in need, and assuring that everyone is taken care of. Jase and Missy Robertson couldn’t be more proud of how incredible Mia has become, and can think of no better face to represent the Mia Moo Fund.

The Mia Moo Fund is an organization that is dedicated to raising awareness and funds towards the management, treatments and surgical procedures of cleft lip & cleft palate.
