January 2024 Reflection

BRING ON 2024!
January Reflection
Hey y'all! It's Mia! This month I enjoyed my very long Christmas break! I spent most of the month at home soaking in every minute with family. I went on a few trips to visit friends and more family and that was oh so sweet. I don't know about you, but even in Louisian it was freezing! I hope you all stayed warm and bundled up!
At the end of this month I started my study abroad trip! I am having so much fun! I am getting ready to start my classes here and I am excited about all the new things I will learn! It is challenging to learn a new language, but very fun! I mess up constantly, but I have 3 more months to get better!
I hope you are all having a great start to 2024! Love ya lots!
Ciao,
Mia

JANUARY RECIPIENT
Brixlee is a happy, healthy, beautiful 2 year old with the goofiest personality we have ever seen. She loves Puzzles, anything that has to do with cats, baby dolls, fruit snacks and most of all her Grammy and “Paca”(Grandpa). She is an amazing little girl with a bright future and we love her with all our hearts!
Brixlee has been through a total of 5 procedures in her 2 years of life and has done phenomenally in healing from each one, acting almost as if she didn’t have major surgery. She still has a couple more to go but we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!
We want to thank the Mia Moo Fund for helping us, we really don’t know what we would do without you! ~ Karissa, Dustin, and Brixlee

Weston is 7 years old. He loves playing with trains, Thomas The Train especially is his favorite. He also likes dinosaurs. He enjoys putting puzzles together and having books read to him. I cried tears of joy when we were helped by Mia Moo, thank you for donating and making this possible for our family. Weston, his sister Kasey and I would appreciate your prayers. ~ Weston's Mom

Mia exploring all of the different plants and flowers on a botanical garden tour on her study abroad trip! So so fun!
!!! Recipe of the month !!!

Henry's Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Balls
2 cups of oats
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup ground Flaxseed
1/3 cup sesame seeds
1 cup natural peanut butter
1 cup honey
1 cup stevia sweetened chocolate chips (or any kind you like)
2 Clean hands for mashing it all together
Add all ingredients except for the chocolate chips to a large bowl. Mix with your hands. Add chocolate chips. Mix again. Yes it is messy!! Take about a tablespoon and roll into balls. Place onto a cookie sheet and freeze. Henry says, "now you can lick your hands."  Once frozen take the balls out and place in a gallon bag. Return to freezer. When you are ready to eat them, allow to thaw about 2 minutes. Henry says, "Watch out, you and your family may eat them all at once and not need to re-freeze any!"

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Henry is our family favorite!   He is the youngest of 7 kiddos and his brothers and sisters all love him so much.  Henry can build anything out of anything (including Legos) and spends as much time as possible creating forts and structures.  He's also a great chef!  (see recipe above) Henry is currently in ortho care expanding his palate before he has his next surgery which should be later this year.  He would rather not have the surgery (keeping it honest), but like so many other cleft palate children we have been able to meet through Mia Moo, we know he will rally.  It's been such a blessing to have support and to realize we are not alone. We didn't even know how much we needed the emotional support until we went to the Mia Moo FunDay.  We are blown away by Mia Moo. ~ Henry's Mom
